Fab Frugal Fitness Series – Week #9 by Shara

This week, Shara brings us a quick and effective Tabata workout – a high-intensity workout featuring exercises that last four minutes. We can’t use the “I don’t have time” excuse with this one!

 

Message from Shara:

I love tabatas because they are quick and effective. A tabata is a high intensity 4 min workout. You work for :20 seconds and rest for :10 seconds continuously for 4 min. You alternate the :20 work and :10 rest throughout the 4 min.

 

Tabata

The tabata below has four exercises. You will only do each exercise two times. (You work for :20 seconds and rest for :10 seconds continuously for 4 min. You alternate the :20 work and :10 rest throughout the 4 min.)

 

1. High knees: Bring your legs to 90 degrees one at a time at a fast pace.

2. Push-ups: Start with your hands under your shoulders and a flat back from keeping your abdominals and gluteals tight. You will bend your elbows and then straighten them remaining your flat back.

3. Ab bikes: Hands are behind your head while your elbows are open. Lift your legs off the ground and make a 90 degree angle with your knees. Bring your elbow to your opposite knee and then switch sides. Remember to keep your lower back on the ground so there is not an arch.

4. Tuck jumps: Feet are shoulder width apart. You squat down and jump into the air bringing your knees to a 90 degree angle. You will land softly through your feet with bent knees.
