Setting boundaries is necessary for creating the life I want to live.

Setting boundaries for our time, energy and our money, allows us to prioritize the things we want most and the things that bring us the most joy. This money mantra is great for reminding ourselves to prioritize what’s most important rather than what we do out of habit, because other people are doing it or because we feel pressure to do it.

I belong in the room.

This is a mantra for those of us who experience imposter syndrome. If we have the opportunity to be in the room or sitting at the table, know we belong there.

Even when we have to fight for the opportunity to be there, we belong there. The room needs our expertise, unique voice and perspective.

I spend money on the things that are important to me. Self-care does not require me to spend money.

This is such an important reminder! So often we’re spending money out of habit, because our friends are doing it or we don’t even realize we’re doing it. Getting conscious about where our money is going and then making intentional choices about where we want to spend it is a radical act of self care. 

 ‘Treat yo-self’ or this idea that we need to spend impulsively to take care of ourselves is perpetuated by companies trying to sell us things. We all deserve to treat ourselves but we want to make sure it’s not at the expense of the things we want most.

It’s already more than enough. 

As long as our needs are met - we have plenty of food, are able to pay our bills and are safe - we have a choice - it’s already more than enough or it will never be enough. We often think that earning more money will be the  financial fix for our lives. We earn more and realize, yes we were able to finance more things, but it didn’t solve all of our money problems. We end up back where we were - wanting to earn more. Those of you who know me know I’m a huge proponent of us earning more and we should work 100% towards that, but knowing it’s not going to be the financial fix we want it to be. It’s already more than enough or it will never be enough.
