THE FISCAL FEMME’S DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION POLICY
The Fiscal Femme is committed to being an anti-racist organization and we are working to develop and implement strategies within the business to help dismantle systemic racism.
The Fiscal Femme’s core message and mission is rooted in equality and the power and freedom that comes from improving our financial well-being. When it comes to money and personal finance, we don’t start on a level playing field. Systemic racism has stripped BIPOC of wealth, again and again, and until we dismantle these systems of oppression, financial freedom will not be accessible to all in a meaningful way.
Below is our statement and commitment to doing better as a business and the way we operate. This is a work in progress and will continue to be updated, revised, and improved as we continuously learn.
EDUCATION + RESOURCES
The Fiscal Femme’s personal finance education (writing, speaking, courses) to highlight the lack of opportunity and inclusion for people of color and people in marginalized communities
Our offering will include resources specifically to help people of color and people in marginalized communities with their personal finances
Ashley to provide at least one educational talk per quarter to organizations supporting marginalized communities (starting in 2021)
OPERATIONS + TEAM BUILDING
Photos on our website and social media platforms will include BIPOC and people who are part of marginalized communities beyond tokenization in order to make sure that we are communicating that this is a space where all are welcomed and served
Add a DEI statement to the About section of the The Fiscal Femme website
Commit to a diversified team (contract and full-time)
For new hires (contract and full-time):
Add a DEI statement to job posts to make sure that the opportunity is open to all and, if hired, new team members will feel welcome and understood
Will post the listing on job sites geared toward BIPOC. We will use this list as a guide.
SUPPORT + PROMOTION
We will do more to showcase personal finance experts and other businesses who are part of marginalized communities (beyond tokenization):
Newsletter features
Webinars
Social media
PARTNERS + SPONSORS
Vetting of all sponsors will include a requirement to provide information about the percentage of BIPOC and women on their leadership teams
A commitment on their part to hiring and promoting people of color beyond tokenization will be required for partnership
Partners who extend an invitation to Ashley to speak, will be asked about the percentage of BIPOC who are spotlighted on their respective platform (podcast, panels, keynotes, blogs, etc.) and Ashley will only accept the invitation if people of color are included beyond tokenization
Service providers, educational resources, communities/groups we join as a company (as well as Ashley as an individual) will be vetted for diversity, equity, and inclusion before we sign on with them
Do they have a DEI policy? Will they share it?
What percentage of participants are BIPOC?
