Money Musings 💭 my 💰 dream for you
Before I decided what the Fiscal Femme $$$ School would look like, I started with my goal for the program. What would you achieve over the course of the 12-months? What would your life look and feel like at the end of it?
From there, I created the curriculum and support it would take to get there.
Imagine this…
You get home from work (or log off your computer for the day #covidlife) and have some free time. You do whatever you like to do to relax. Turn on your latest show, open a book or start cooking your favorite dinner. But something’s missing…
That nagging feeling you STILL haven’t chosen your 401(k) investments or that pervasive stress you won’t actually save any money this month is completely gone.
You aren’t worried or constantly checking your balances - you have a plan. ✅
Not only are you not worried, you’re confident that while you drink this glass of wine or curl up on your couch, your money systems are working for you.
You know how much you need to put towards each goal and in what order. And it’s all happening automatically, without you doing any work. You’re even feeling excited to track your progress at your next money check-in.
Your bestie texts you to ask you a question about her company HSA because you’re her most financially responsible friend. You of course know the answers. You’re now the financial go-to in your friend group.
You go on to share a link to the new cozy sweater you just bought. Not only do you not feel guilty about indulging in things that make you happy, you feel a sense of pride knowing you purchased it from a BIPOC-owned business that aligns with your values.
You smile at how far you’ve come. ☺️ You can barely remember the you from last year who avoided looking at her money and stressed over every purchase.
This financial ease and clarity is what I want for you.
And you can have it.
Sign up for the Fiscal Femme $$$ School and commit to spending 2 hours per week on your money.
Enrollment closes tonight at midnight and we’ll kick off on February 1st.
PS In honor of Black History Month, we’re doing something we’ve never done before - newsletter (+ Instagram) takeovers! You’ll be hearing from our favorite Black personal finance experts, starting with Cinneah of @fly.nanced. I couldn’t be more excited!
MONEY MOVE OF THE WEEK
What’s your relationship with money? It might sound funny, but you have a relationship with money just like you have a relationship with anything else. It’s how we interact with and relate to money. If you treated your best friend the same way you treat your money, what would your relationship look like? Would your friendship be flourishing or would you not even be on speaking terms?
Pinning down our relationship with money can be tough because it’s so normal to us. It’s our status quo. Take out a piece of paper (digital or real) and give yourself 90 seconds to answer each of these five questions. Try not to overthink it. Just go with your gut.
What comes to mind when you hear the word:
Wealthy
Rich
Poor
Millionaire
Billionaire
What do your answers mean? It’s a window into your thoughts about what it means to have a lot of money. I’d love to hear what you discover! Hit reply and let me know.
YOU GOTTA SEE THIS
DEFINE: PROFIT. What you earn minus what you spend (also applies to companies). Use it in a sentence: “I got a raise and didn’t change my spending - more profit for me!” 🔥
Fun fact: Profit has to do with inflows and outflows. Our balance sheet is a snapshot in time of what we have (and owe) and where. We can use this snapshot to calculate our net worth = what we have minus (-) what we owe.
Use our free net worth template to create your personal balance sheet and track your progress.
