Money Musings: be fiscally fierce

Money Musings 💭 be fiscally fierce

To celebrate Womxn’s History Month, we’ve asked some of our favorite, most inspiring voices in the $$$ world to take over the Fiscal Femme Money Musing and our Instagram.

We’re so excited to have Gigi kicking us off this week! Check her out on Instagram and hear from her below! 🎉

GIGI’S REFLECTION

Great Rising All,

It's Gigi from First Gen Money Musings sharing a word with all you fiscally fierce folks! As we approach the one year anniversary of collectively experiencing a global pandemic, I would like to ground us toward realities of our greatest holistic wealth and health through intentional thought and affirming action.

I call upon the manifestation powers of our conscious and subconscious minds to conjure a spirit of optimism and success that transcends all limiting beliefs and encounters we may face as we pave unprecedented futures for ourselves.
I invite you all to tap into your abundance consciousness to fervently pursue the life most meant for you. I dare you all to challenge all narratives that have been imposed upon you that do not resonate with the reality you seek.

This Sunday, March 7th, I'll be starting and facilitating an 21 Day Challenge to help us transition into a fuller embodiment of aligned abundance. This challenge will allow us to develop and bring our visions/embodiment into clarity and execution with Universal flow.

The challenge is happening on my Instagram page and will require a few different materials to help you gain a fuller experience. For a sample of the energy and direction of this challenge, please see this excerpt from a talk I did on Spiritual Money: How to Establish a Connection with Personal Finance Content Creator @funancialism.

Thank you in advance for your openness and collaborating with me on our alchemy!

With love and prosperity,

Gigi

MONEY MOVE OF THE WEEK

Look at some expenses on an annual basis. When we look at our expenses on an annual basis (i.e. how much they cost us per year) rather than what they cost us each time, we get a much more helpful and holistic view of our spending. It also makes it easier to determine if that expense is worth it to us.

Many people report feeling nauseous 🤢 after seeing certain expenses this way BUT the point isn’t to make you feel guilty (or nauseous). The point is to help us see if there is something else we’d rather be doing with our money.

Test out a few of your expenses. Take how much it costs per time and multiply it by the number of times you spend it per year. It might be monthly (12x) or weekly (52x), for example.

YOU GOTTA SEE THIS

Get educated and speak out against Asian hate. Last week we talked about Asian American and Pacific Island Equal Pay Day and the model minority myth that continues to oppress these communities.

Over the past year, inflammatory and xenophobic rhetoric has put Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) people and businesses at risk. These xenophobic sentiments - perpetuated by the words and actions of some political leaders - have resulted in a dramatic increase in harassment and hate crimes against AAPI persons. This must stop.

Follow the leaders and organizations below to educate yourself about what’s going on. Speak up. Silence is complicit. We need to listen to and stand with the AAPI community.

As always, I’ll encourage all of you to vote with your values and support AAPI-owned businesses. I’m compiling a list of your favorite AAPI-owned businesses, so hit reply if you have one to add on the list. By voting with your values, you can help Asian-owned small businesses recover from the negative economic and social impacts of the pandemic.

PS
A special thank you to the estimated 2 million AAPI folx that have served on the front lines of this crisis as first responders, in healthcare, and in other essential roles.
