Money Musings 💭 I’ve been hiding something… 😬
I’ve been hiding something from you…
I know, I know. We’re supposed to have a completely open and honest relationship, so I’m coming clean.
At the Fiscal Femme we have four incredible courses.
What?! 🤯 You’ve been reading along each week, maybe even part of our Fiscal Femme Slack Community and had no idea?
It’s my fault.
In the past, I’ve only opened doors to our courses (aka made them available) at certain times of the year as a part of certain events. So you very well could have been part of the Fiscal Femme community for years and had no idea.
But we’re going to do something new. 🎉
I’ve decided to open all of the courses so you can enroll as soon as you are ready to achieve your next financial goal. 🙌 And it feels good!
You can learn more about and enroll in each of our courses below.
PS We are having our last signature budgeting Money Party of 2020 on Thursday, September 3rd at 1 pm EST because I’m heading off on my maternity leave soon. I promise we will start up this beloved tradition in early 2021! Sign up here.

MONEY MOVE OF THE WEEK
List out your privilege. In So You Want to Talk about Race, the author Ijeoma Oluo, challenges readers to list out all the ways that they experience privilege. “Privilege is the benefits and advantages held by a group in power, or in a majority, that arise because of the oppression and suppression of minority groups.” Often part of having privilege is not even having to see it’s there.
Ijeoma says she still adds to her own list as she finds more and more privilege in her life. Try it out. List out the ways you experience privilege in your life. I’ll start - I’m white, able-bodied, cisgender, straight, thin, neurotypical, have a partner, am financially stable, have easy access to technology, feel safe at home, have nutritional privilege, and the list goes on and on. In what ways do you experience privilege?
YOU GOTTA SEE THIS
Help staff (and get paid) to work at your local polling place. The US is facing a nationwide poll worker shortage due to Covid (most poll workers are over age 60 and at higher risk).
Fewer poll workers means fewer polling locations and longer lines. This disproportionately affects marginalized communities who have less flexibility to miss work, wait in long lines and travel to other polling locations.
Poll workers are integral to a fair election and making sure everyone’s vote is counted. If you are wondering what else you can do to get involved and help (I know I am! 🙋♀️), sign up for Power to the Polls to learn more. All poll workers receive PPE, get training and are paid.
