Money Musings: Women’s History Month

Money Musings 💭 Women’s History Month 🔥

This Women's History Month there is so much going on. 🎉  Cinneah and I are halfway through our roundtable series. For those of you looking to build wealth, this week we have We Choose FI/RE.

Join this roundtable to learn about the FI/RE movement from our perspectives and talk about how women at different stages in our journeys are working towards our goals of financial freedom.

For those who are interested in building some travel into their lives as the world starts to open up, don’t miss this roundtable on Creating a Travel Abundant Lifestyle.

Join this roundtable to learn how to break down the barriers that may be keeping you from traveling abundantly - be it your fears, your commitments back home, your finances or anything in between.

And feel free to forward this to any friends who may want to join in on these amazing discussions.

P.S. Check out the event we're doing with Accountants of Color (more on this below).

MONEY MOVE OF THE WEEK

Open an online savings account. An online savings account (also called a high-yield or high-interest savings account) is an incredible money tool we can use as part of our overall financial strategy. Because they’re out of sight and out of mind from our checking accounts, money feels less available (even though we could transfer it over in a few days if we needed it!).

Although interest rates are low, they still earn 40x more (at ~0.4-0.6%) than our checking accounts. If you don’t have one, open one today! It’ll only take a few minutes. And if you’re not sure where to start, check out this list of some of my favorites. Keep in mind that the interest rates fluctuate, so the information here might have changed by the time you read this.

YOU GOTTA SEE THIS

Tax prep Q&A with accountants of color. Last week I talked about why our taxes are so complicated. 🤬 Regardless, it’s tax time and the deadline to file and pay your taxes is less than a month away (April 15th). I know many of you still have questions (thank you for sharing them!).

That's why I'm SO excited to be hosting a FREE Tax Prep Q&A event with Accountants of Color on March 26th at 1 pm EST. You can learn more about their incredible work below and via their website.

The founders (also incredible accountants), Keila and Kelli, will be answering this community's tax questions. You can sign up here. And if you didn't submit your question(s), just hit reply and share.

If you are looking to hire an accountant, check out their amazing directory of BIPOC accountants.
