Money Musings: đź’ Your education matters

In talking to so many people, especially women, about their financial lives, I’ve found a common thread in many of our stories.

So many of our financial successes come from someone who gave us a nudge.

This might be a colleague who urged us to set up our 401(k), a friend who sat down with us to show us how she budgets, or the colleague who bravely shared what she’s getting paid so we could compare.

When we get educated about money, not only do we lift ourselves and our families up, we can be an example of what’s possible and can give others the nudge they need.

We bring others up with us and that has a tremendous impact.

Your education matters.

My new book Financial Adulting comes out today!

Learn more about money and combating the systems holding us back from Financial Adulting.

Then, become that person that lifts someone else up!

I can’t wait to hear what you think about the book!

MONEY MOVE OF THE WEEK

KEEP A LIST OF YOUR SUCCESSES.

You have a big win at work. You pulled off an impossible project, hit a deadline, or saved the company major 💰. You can’t imagine you’d ever forget the details because it feels so incredible.

Months later, it’s time to make your case for promotion and you’re scrambling trying to think of your successes. You think, “have I contributed anything this year?!” Your mind draws a blank. Relatable? 🙋‍♀️

Keep a log of the things you accomplish at work. Write down any details you’d like to remember - the project, the result, the team and what impact it had on the company. Don’t assume you’ll remember anything.

Better yet, track wins outside of work, too. It’s such an important reminder when you need a confidence boost!
