5 Signs You Need a Money Cleanse

5 Signs You Need a Money Cleanse

Cleanses are a great way to hit reset on certain areas of your life. They help you break bad habits, flush toxins, and set yourself up with a powerful plan for the future. I’ve done technology cleanses, sugar cleanses, and closet cleanses that have had these effects.

A 30-Day Money Cleanse is no different than any other cleanse - except that it hits reset on your money.

Maybe you already know you are in need of a Money Cleanse and are ready to take one one. Maybe you know you could improve your financial habits, but you aren’t quite sure that a Money Cleanse is right for you.

Here are five signs that you need to put yourself on a Money Cleanse. And if any of these (or all of these) sound like you, don’t fret! Most of us could use a Money Cleanse and they can be really fun.

You might be surprised to hear that the majority of people who’ve experienced one have said it wasn’t restricting and they actually enjoyed their lives more during the process.

A Money Cleanse can also be a great bonding activity for you, your friends, and family. Bringing in accountability buddies improves your relationships, makes everything more fun, and magnifies your success. Win-win-win!

1. You can’t seem to save enough.

Have you ever thought: “I don’t make enough money to save” but then you got a raise or two (or three) and still can’t seem to put anything into your savings account? Some unexpected expense always seems to come up and at this point, you are almost resigned to not saving at all.

I know this sign well because this was me. I continued to earn more and more money and never was able to save. And if I did manage to save anything, it got transferred right out of my savings account as soon as an unexpected expense came up. I’d think back to my old salaries and wonder, how did I ever live on that? Why did my lifestyle not feel much different?

2. Your spending feels out of control.

Out of control spending doesn’t necessarily mean that you go on expensive shopping sprees. Out of control spending can be made up of small expenses as well. Do you ever go into a store to grab a sandwich and end up buying the sandwich, cookie, chips, drink and gum, and regret it later?

If you tell yourself “why did I get that? I didn’t need that,” your spending might be out of control. Especially if you find yourself doing it over and over again.

Another tell-tale sign? Muttering the phrase “where is my money going?”

3. You avoid budgeting like the plague.

Budgeting gets such a bad rap. You might even physically cringe when you hear the word budget. I know I did and that’s why I refer to budgets as happiness allocations. I call them happiness allocations because they’re really just a plan to allocate our money in the way that will make us the happiest in both the short and long-term. Doesn’t that sound much better?

If you have avoided budgeting for as long as you can remember, you probably don’t know how freeing and liberating budgets can be. Imagine doing everything you truly want to do and spending your money without feeling the guilt. That’s what a budget truly is!

4. Every expense makes you feel guilty.

If you have no budget or plan, every time you spend money you will feel guilty. This is because you have no idea what you should be spending. Without a proper budget, you can’t be sure if you’re living outside of your means.

I know from experience that this is a terrible feeling! Despite how terrible it feels to spend money, we do so anyway - and often in large amounts! We’re just not truly enjoying it.

5. You have big awesome goals but also want to have fun now.

We often think of being financially responsible or making “smart” financial decisions as something that will be restricting and limiting to our fun. We might imagine we have to constantly say ‘no’ to ourselves now so that we can live comfortably later.

This does not have to be the case. You can achieve those big awesome goals you have in the future while also living an amazing life now. A Money Cleanse helps you zero in on what’s most important to you and what’s not so important so you can fund your biggest goals and dreams.

Do you need a Money Cleanse?

If any of these signs sound like you, you are ready to take on a Money Cleanse. A Money Cleanse is a 30-day program that takes you through fun and manageable exercises to get clear on where your money is going, where you want it to be going, and how to make a spending plan that fits with your lifestyle and goals. The most important part is that you get to enjoy your life while doing it so it’s easy to keep your Money Cleanse habits long after the 30 days.
