Money Musings 💭 it’s been 100 weeks! 🥳
Today is a big day - this is the 100th Money Musing! 🥳
I can hardly believe it. I started sending out the Money Musing one hundred weeks ago... And over time your feedback has made them better and better. Thank you! 🙏
I’m really proud of what the Money Musing has become. I’m able to share my personal experiences around money, give you a money move to make progress each week (and you know I believe action is everything!) and highlight important money happenings.
Overall, it’s one of my favorite ways to have important money conversations with you - my incredible Fiscal Femme community!
Internally, we affectionately say it’s a textbook’s worth of knowledge (but a very fun textbook!) that you can read in 2 minutes. I have gotten wordy lately 😂 so maybe it’s more like 5 minutes (I’ll work on that).
I’d love the Money Musing to reach more incredible womxn and allies! To help me celebrate, please forward this email or a past Money Musing to two financial feminists you think would enjoy being part of this conversation.
I’m so excited to continue growing with you and am so grateful to have you as part of the Fiscal Femme Community!
I’d love to continue to make the Money Musing better. Please leave feedback in this quick anonymous survey. You’ll also enter a chance to win a $25 gift card toward your favorite BIPOC women-owned business.
MONEY MOVE OF THE WEEK
Make one thing fabulously frugal. Fabulously frugal means upping or maintaining the fabulousness of something while decreasing or maintaining the cost. It’s about creating win-win situations for our happiness and our financial well-being. Here’s how to do it. Choose one thing to make fabulously frugal this week. Let’s use a socially distanced dinner with friends as an example. Now what’s important about that item or experience to you? Maybe you just want quality time with friends and appreciate nice wine. Or maybe you are so excited to try a new restaurant after being quarantined for months. If the item includes another person or a group, bring them in on the exercise.
What can you let go of about the item or experience to decrease its cost? Take some time to make a list of ideas. If you only care about QT and nice wine, you might decide to have your friend over instead of going out. Or if trying new places is important to you, you might decide to share a few apps (they are usually better anyway), rather than sitting for a full meal. Then test it out and see how it goes. Did you get all the benefits you were looking for? If not, keep brainstorming. If so, celebrate and track your progress. How much did that save you? What does that fab frugal item mean for your money over the course of the entire year?

Also, here are some of the anti-racist resources I’ve been reading and watching that I highly recommend.
