Money Musings 💭 your 2021 💰 plan
It’s officially 2021. Woohoo! 🥳 We ended the year with two (very COVID-conscious) 3-day drives - first to Florida and then back to New Jersey. Yes… with a baby, toddler and dog 🤪.
We stayed in contactless Airbnbs, stopped every 2 hours to feed baby M, and I definitely used E’s travel potty on a few occasions. But we got to ring in the New Year with my parents (after everyone quarantined and got tested) and that made it all worth it!
So far everything wrong with 2020 didn’t magically go away (actually none of it did), but I’m hopeful for a much better year.
One of my favorite things to do at the start of each year is create a financial plan for the next twelve months. I know… I’m unique. 😂
Why? When you map out the next year, you can plan for bigger things you want to accomplish - like deciding how much you can put towards your goals. And for some, planning to hopefully 🙏 make up some missed travel time.
You may also decide to make some spending adjustments or even lifestyle upgrades. Like, for me, figuring out how I can keep up this new Daily Harvest habit I’ve created. Yes, it’s okay to spend money, too!
When we map it all out, we can see if our plans are workable. And if they aren’t, we adjust or take steps toward making them work.
It won’t be perfect. Things change. Sometimes everything changes (2020 was a perfect example) but making a financial plan in January is a foundation for us to build on the rest of the year.
Now you might be thinking “Ashley, how exactly do I make this life-changing financial plan?”
I’m so glad you asked! Join me on Wednesday January 13th at 5 pm (or if that time doesn’t work, register to get the recording) and I’ll show you how, step by step. I’ll even share the template I use.
This will be a free hour-long live class and I’ll stay on for another 30 minutes so you can get started working on your own plan (aka a Money Party!). That way, if you have questions, you can ask me as you go. Plus, there’s nothing like a little group accountability to get the job done.
I hope you can make it!

MONEY MOVE OF THE WEEK
Set a one-word money intention for 2021. New Year, fresh start. If you were to sum up your ideal financial life in one word, what would it be? There are no wrong answers. Maybe it’s “ease” or “freedom” or “confidence” or “wealthy.” Whatever you choose, you want this to be a word that elicits a positive physical response. It makes you feel good. Remind yourself of your money intention often. Make it the background of your phone, have it pop up with your morning alarm clock and share the word with your money buddies. Make it a good one because when we set intentions, they usually come true!
